Icelandic air cargo joint venture to move fish Eimskip's parent company Hf. Eimskipafelag Islands has established a joint venture air cargo carrier to start operations between Akureyri in Iceland and mainland Europe this coming spring.
   The two other partners in Nor'anflug ehf., are Samherji hf. and SAGA Fj'rfestingar ehf. The capital stock is ISK50 million ($715,000).
   'The market for fresh fish is large and growing,' said Unnar J'nsson, manager of logistics at Samherji.
   'As an example of that, there are approximately 15 tons of fresh fish fillets transported from the Eyjafj'r'ur region every day. That quantity is equivalent to the transportation capacity of a jet. Therefore, there is absolutely no doubt that Nor'anflug will meet a pressing need in this market and the company will probably make trips three to five times each week,' he said.
