WTSA raising agricultural rates

WTSA raising agricultural rates Shipping lines in the Westbound Transpacific Stabilization Agreement are recommending rate increases on dry agricultural products cargoes to 'address ongoing higher cargo handling, equipment and other operating costs in the transpacific market.'
   Effective April 1, member carriers intend to raise agri-products rates by $80 per 20-foot container (TEU) and $100 per 40-foot container (FEU) on a list of cargoes that include soybeans and related products, cotton byproducts, grain and grain products; peas beans and lentils, meal, flour, corn products, starches, animal feed (except pet food), seeds, and food additives.
   The latest plan follows the WTSA's $40-per-TEU and $50-per-FEU rate increase for agricultural products, effective Oct. 1.
   WTSA members are APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine, COSCO Container Lines, 'K' Line, Evergreen Marine Corp., NYK Line, Hanjin Shipping, Orient Overseas Container Line, Hapag Lloyd, and Yang Ming.
