RoadOne acquires fellow intermodal carrier United Global

Chicago-based United Global Logistics will remain an independent division within RoadOne IntermodaLogistics, with both companies benefiting from a strengthened Midwestern logistics network.    Intermodal, distribution, and logistics company RoadOne IntermodaLogistics has acquired United Global Logistics (UGL) to strengthen its Midwest service offerings.     
   UGL will continue to operate as an independent division under RoadOne IntermodaLogistics with no change to services and operations.    
   UGL’s Boomerang division, which serves Ohio and Kentucky regional markets with full service container terminal and CFS station, will be integrated into RoadOne’s portfolio of companies. UGL will have access to RoadOne’s fuel, truck and insurance purchasing capabilities and full, end-to-end technology platform.   
   RoadOne’s technology platform includes full end-to-end visibility with Container Intelligence Tracker, real time driver updates with RoadTrak and systematized route optimization. RoadOne vehicles are all equipped with electronic logging devices and driver support systems as well.   
   UGL’s service portfolio includes local pick-up and delivery including airport transfer, container, intermodal and full trailer deliveries throughout the Midwest, as well as expedited airfreight services at O’Hare Airport, a fully bonded warehouse and four container storage yards located in Joliet, Itasca, Harvey, and Rochelle, Illinois.
