The service, which offers a five-day transit time, is the only weekly direct service to Central America from the U.S. West Coast, the carrier said.
The service will use a new private terminal at Puerto Quetzal.
Great White Fleet, a subsidiary of Chiquita Brands International, also has weekly sailings from Miami, Wilmington, Del.; Gulfport, Miss.; and Freeport, Texas to Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
