APL Logistics expands Pakistan services    APL Logistics has started operations at a newly built container freight station at Port Qasim, Pakistan.
   The company said the move allows it to consolidate its container freight station capabilities from across three locations into a single dedicated center, and improves efficiency and transit times for customers now that it's closer to one of Pakistan's busiest ports.
   The facility has a capacity of 35,000 square feet, but can be expanded to 60,000 square feet to meet increased business. APL Logistics said it's also the first logistics provider in Pakistan to offer container yard storage and handling capabilities.
   'Our location by the Port of Qasim offers customers a strategic advantage by leveraging our road transportation operations for reliable domestic distribution or seamlessly connecting to global markets via our ocean transportation services,' said Irfan Sheik, head of international logistics services for APL Logistics in Pakistan. 'Furthermore, our proximity to Karachi's key industrial zones, such as the upcoming Textile City, ideally positions APL Logistics to support the region's progressive trading initiatives.'
