PostNL experiences revenue rise in Q2

   PostNL, which holds a more than 14.5-percent stake in TNT Express, saw revenue increase by 3 percent, year-over-year, during the second quarter, finishing the period at 1.02 billion euros.
   Operating income jumped by 137 percent, year-over-year, to 85 million euros. Net profit for the period increased to 44 million from 3 million during the second quarter of 2013, and for the year, net profit totals 98 million, rising from the -407 million measured in the second quarter of last year.
   PostNL sold 15 percent of its stake in TNT Express in December, and now controls 14.7 percent of the integrator.
During the second quarter, PostNL’s parcel volume rose by 8.2 percent, resulting in a 5-percent revenue increase to 204 million euros. Amid a restructuring of the mail program in the Netherlands, volumes fell by 11.2 percent in the same period, pushing revenues down by 1 percent to 479 million euros.
   “Overall, the first half year was strong and reflects the learning curve we experienced in restructuring the company, and the supportive and cooperative mindset of all our employees to adapt to the changing environment,” Herna Verhagen, PostNL’s chief executive officer, said in a statement. “All this fuels my confidence that we will achieve our 2015 targets.”
