Gulf Marine Repair to extend Tampa lease

Gulf Marine Repair to extend Tampa lease Gulf Marine Repair Corp., a long-standing ship repair company at the Port of Tampa, has reached a tentative agreement to extend its lease on property along the Ybor Channel area of the port.
The lease calls for Gulf Marine to have a combination of exclusive and nonexclusive berth space, following months of negotiations involving Gulf Marine, the port, and Trammell Crow Co., a developer of the Port Ybor Project.
Port Ybor includes berths 250-253. Gulf Marine and Trammell Crow have reached an agreement to allow Gulf Marine exclusive access to Berth 253, where its main operations are located, plus non-exclusive rights to use Berth 250, and non-exclusive rights to berths 251 and 252, subject to the needs of Roll-on/Roll-Off and other general cargo operations.
Gulf Marine signed a 10-year lease for use of berth and wharf space in the area starting in 1996. In 2000, the port entered into a lease agreement with Trammel Crow for development of the entire area, including the right to lease a portion of the premises to Gulf Marine upon the expiration of the 10-year lease. The lease expired earlier this year, but was temporarily extended twice by the port while the parties worked out a long-term agreement.
A public hearing on the agreement has been scheduled for Friday at the port authority headquarters.
