UNITED ALLIANCE BOOSTS CAPACITY OF PACIFIC SERVICE    The United Alliance carriers Hanjin Shipping, Cho Yang and DSR-Senator are boosting their capacity in the transpacific by introducting larger vessels in their joint “CAX” weekly container service.
   The carriers are replacing five 2,670-TEU vessels, operated by Hanjin, by five vessels of 4,024-TEU capacity.
   The changes will increase the annual one-way capacity of this service from 138,000 to 209,000 TEUs a year.
   Last December, the alliance introduced the 4,024-TEU    “Hanjin Malta” and “Hanjin Los Angeles” into the CAX.    In March, the “Hanjin Shanghai” is joining the service, followed by the “Hanjin Valencia” in June and “Hanjin Osaka” in July.
   The Chinese carrier Sinotrans also takes space on the CAX service.
   The full rotation of the service is Long Beach, Oakland, Tokyo, Osaka, Busan, Kwangyang, Shanghai, Busan and back to Long Beach and Oakland.
