Delta opens JFK expansion

   The first phase of Delta Air Lines’ Terminal 4, part of a $1.4 billion redevelopment, has opened at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
   The new development includes nine additional international gates, seven gates that have been renovated, and a host of passenger terminal upgrades. 
   The 346,000-square-foot expansion now makes the terminal one of the largest in North America. Construction of the second phase, which will include 11 more gates, will now begin. Completion is expected during the summer of 2015.
   With the opening of its expansion, Delta has moved out of Terminal 3, which will be redeveloped.
   “The state-of-the-art Terminal 4 facilities have been years in the making, and Delta people, global customers and the residents of New York now have the international hub facility that they expect and deserve,” Delta’s chief executive officer, Richard Anderson, said in a statement. “It’s an exciting time at Delta, and JFK Terminal 4 is emblematic of the investments we are making in New York and around the world.” – Jon Ross
