UASC becomes latest carrier to commit to INTTRA eVGM

The ocean carrier has committed to using an electronic filing solution from INTTRA to comply with pending container weighing rules set to come into force July 1.    United Arab Shipping Co. (UASC) is the latest carrier to commit to using an electronic filing solution from INTTRA to comply with pending container weighing rules set to come into force July 1.
   UASC will use INTTRA’s eVGM product as a channel to facilitate compliance with the new rule, the carrier said. INTTRA is the world’s largest electronic platform for ocean freight transactions, including booking requests and shipping instructions.
   In March, INTTRA unveiled plans for its eVGM solution to help shippers and forwarders comply with the new verified gross mass (VGM) amendment to the International Maritime Organization’s Safety of Life at Sea convention.
   UASC was a founding member of the non-commercial INTTRA eVGM Alliance, which has worked with INTTRA to develop a digital approach to VGM submission from shippers to carriers.
   A number of other shipping lines, forwarders and technology providers have committed to using the eVGM product, including Mediterranean Shipping Co., Kuehne + Nagel and Info-X Software.
