CBP San Juan finds cocaine in transshipment

CBP San Juan finds cocaine in transshipment U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in Puerto Rico found cocaine hidden in the frame of a painting that was moving through San Juan as an express shipment from Dominica to Austria.
   The CBP said the discovery was made this week at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan. CBP officers were moving the in-transit shipment through an X-ray machine and thought they saw something abnormal in the picture frame. A detailed inspection showed there were several small, cylindrical pellets encrusted in the frame. Testing showed the pellets were made of cocaine.
   The CBP said 120 grams of cocaine were seized from the shipment.
   The CBP office of Field Operations for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands has already seized more than 818 kilos of cocaine during the fiscal year that started Oct. 1. The drugs have an estimated street value of $12 million.
