Cargo security funding

Cargo security funding    The Department of Homeland Security appropriation for fiscal year 2010, enacted in late October, provides $162 million for the Container Security Initiative and the Secure Freight Initiative, which represents a 9 percent increase for the international cargo inspection programs.
   The funding law also directs $163.5 million for the purchase of replacement and new non-intrusive inspection equipment, of which $10 million must go for mobile units to be used between ports of entry on the southern or northern borders.    The money also covers hand-held radiation isotope identifiers carried by customs officers. The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism received $62 million and the National Targeting Center got $26.4 million.
