NYK is the first Japanese company to be situated in HafenCity. The company has 132 employees working on three floors at Kaiserkai 1 with responsibility for container and roll-on/roll-off traffic for Germany, Austria, Russia and Eastern Europe. In Germany, NYK has additional liner offices in Bremerhaven, D'sseldorf and Frankfurt.
“With our German head office, here in the HafenCity, we have returned to the waterfront, right in the middle of the shipping center. Our new address is also a commitment to Hamburg and the port,” said Klaus-Peter Barth, managing director of NYK Line (Deutschland).
Masamichi Morooka, president and chief executive officer of NYK Group Europe in London, said the move highlighted the importance of Germany as NYK’s core market in Europe.
“With this move we strengthen our presence in Germany, as well as reinforce our activities in the growing markets of Eastern Europe and in Russia,” Morooka said.
