TSA CARRIERS TO INTRODUCE SRI LANKAN WAR RISK SURCHARGE    Shipping lines of the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement, a discussion group of carriers in the eastbound transpacific trade, have adopted a guideline to introduce a war risk surcharge for shipments from Sri Lanka to the U.S.
   The charge will be $350 per 20-foot container and $700 per box for all other container sizes.
   Charge guidelines adopted by the TSA carrier group are voluntary, rather than binding, for its carrier members.
   “The lines will file individually, with a target effective date of Aug. 20,” a spokesman for TSA said. “They will be seeking special emergency authority to implement their respective charges. Actual effective dates will depend on how quickly the Federal Maritime Commission processes each application.”
   The Sri Lankan war risk surcharge will only apply on local cargo ex Colombo, not cargo from other origins that tranships via Colombo.
