The firm, which runs primary routes throughout the Asian East Coast, Japan and Australia, is increasing the per-TEU cost by $50. FEU (40-foot equivalent unit) costs will increase $100. The firm cited rising fuel costs and increases in cargo handling costs, charter hires and container repairs.
The 10-year-old firm will also begin charging an additional $100 per TEU of outbound scrap arriving, and $200 to receive a FEU container. The firm cited the expiration of a special recycling rate for the increase.
