DANZAS’ INTERCONTINENTAL, LOGISTICS ARMS RECORD DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH    Danzas, the forwarding and logistics major owned by Deutsche Post, reported double-digit growth in 2001 at Danzas AEI Intercontinental, its ocean and air freight forwarding arm, and Danzas Solutions, its integrated logistics services business unit.
   Danzas AEI Intercontinental increased net sales by 14 percent last year, to 4.4 billion euro ($3.9 billion).
   “This was a remarkable achievement in view of the fact that Danzas AEI Intercontinental was exposed to the effects of Sept. 11 even more than the rest of the group,” Danzas said.
   Danzas AEI Intercontinental is the world’s largest air freight forwarder and one of the three largest in the ocean freight forwarding sector.
   “Main targets for expansion were Latin America and Eastern Europe,” Danzas said.
   Primary objectives at Danzas AEI Intercontinental for 2002 include cost management and expansion of the network structure in growth markets such as Eastern Europe, India and China, the Danzas group said.
   Danzas Solutions, the group’s logistics arm, achieved the highest growth rate within the Danzas group, with an increase of 21 percent in net sales last year, to 1.5 billion euro ($1.3 billion).
   Danzas said the increase was partly the result of the enhanced ability to offer one-stop shopping in cooperation with Deutsche Post World Net, its parent company.
   ” By focusing on specific industries and building up extensive know-how in their operations, (Danzas) Solutions has become an acknowledged expert in the area of integrated logistics solutions for the target industries of automotive, pharma/healthcare, electronics and telecommunications, fast moving consumer goods, fashion and chemicals,” Danzas said.
   Danzas’ third business unit, European land transport provider Eurocargo, increased its net sales by 2 percent last year, to 3.3 billion euro ($2.9 billion).
   Deutsche Post reported on Monday that its logistics division, Danzas, saw its operating profit rise 41 percent to 159 million euro ($141.5 million) last year, on revenue of 9.2 billion euro ($8.2 billion), up 10 percent.
   “The intensification of cooperation within Deutsche Post World Net will tap some very promising business potential,” Danzas said. Danzas added that it is “well prepared” to meet the growing demand for integrated logistics solutions from a single source.
