Delaware ports and ILA sign six year agreement    The Ports of the Delaware River Marine Trade Association (PMTA) has agreed a six-year labor agreement with members of the International Longshoremen’s Association.
   The contract details cover wage increases, pensions, local medical benefits and vacation issues. The employers will be contributing in excess of $7.5 million over the life of the contract to cover these benefits, said Uwe Schulz, president of the PMTA.
   The parties agreed to increase benefit eligibility requirements as the industry is moving from a casual to dedicated nature. The estimated cost increase for the vessel over the life of the contract is approximately 15 percent while the terminal increase is approximately 18 percent for the same period. Members of the ILA who participate in a five-year development program, will receive the premium rate of pay and benefits.
