Air New Zealand orders two more 787-8 “Dreamliner” planes from Boeing

   Air New Zealand has placed firm orders for another two Boeing 787-8 “Dreamliner” aircraft, in addition to the two it already has on order.
   The aircraft are worth an airframe list price of $117 million each, as at July 2004.
   Production of the “Dreamliner” planes will begin next year. The aircraft is being designed as a long-range jet capable of carrying 200 to 300 people on routes between 3,500 and 8,500 nautical miles (6,500 to 16,000 kilometers) that will consume 20 percent less fuel than jets in use today.
   The airline is also scheduled to receive the first of eight new 777-200ER aircraft from Boeing this Friday.
   Air New Zealand plans to have all its eight 777-200ER aircraft in service by early 2007 and introduce the 787 aircraft during 2010 and 2011.
