USDA studies child labor in food supply chain    The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service has formed a consultative group of government and industry officials to develop means to identify and reduce child labor used to process agricultural products imported into the United States.
   The launch of the Consultative Group to Eliminate the Use of Child Labor and Forced Labor in Imported Agricultural Products is required by the 2008 Food, Conservation, and Energy Act. USDA is also required to release guidelines for a voluntary initiative to help entities address issues raised by the 2000 Trafficking Victims Protection Act.
   USDA will hold a public meeting of the consultative group at its Washington headquarters on May 12. Written statements must be received by no later than July 11. For more details, access the Federal Register notice.
