Kansas adds digital IFTA filing support

   The lives of Kansas-based motor carriers just got a little easier thanks to the new option to file quarterly international fuel tax information online.
   Companies can now submit their International Fuel Tax Agreement Quarterly Tax Returns through the Kansas Department of Revenue’s Kansas IFTA Quarterly Filings application.
   Motor carriers with an active Kansas ID and an IFTA license can now submit IFTA quarterly tax returns online without the need to file any physical paperwork. Alongside easing the process, the Kansas Department of Revenue hopes this will reduce errors in submitted documents by reducing manual calculations around taxes, interest, and penalty fees.
   For companies that have an outstanding balance, they can now pay through an electronic check or by printing a mail-in voucher payment and sending that in with a traditional check.
   The Kansas Department of Revenue said electronic filing will also speed up its processing of returns and refunds, as well as ensuring both the department and companies have easy access to copies of all returns.
   The new service comes as a part of TruckingKS, the Kansas Department of Revenue’s existing online trucking permit system. – Geoff Whiting
