Hanjin raises Asia-to-Europe rates    Hanjin Shipping said Thursday it is raising freight rates from Asia to Europe starting Sept. 1:
   ' Rates on shipment from the Far East and Southeast Asia to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU for all types of cargo, including dry and reefer containers.
   ' From Japan to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, Hanjin will also charge a $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU peak season surcharge.
   ' Rates from the Indian Subcontinent and Australia to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean will rise $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU.
   From Oct. 1, rates from the Middle East to the Northern Europe and the Mediterranean will increase $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU.
   'Hanjin Shipping reveals that this rate restoration is part of the company's plan to improve the deteriorated profitability caused by the unsustainable rates in the major trades,' the carrier said in a statement.
