Romero elected to head southwestern region of NCBFAA

Romero elected to head southwestern region of NCBFAA Rene Romero, president of customs brokerage and freight forwarding firm AM-MEX International, has been elected to a two-year term as Area 8 Director of the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America Inc.
   NCBFAA Area 8 members, gathered at the organization's annual meeting in Phoenix, Ariz. last week, elected Romero. The group's Area 8 includes the southern borders of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
   Romero replaces term-limited NCBFAA Director A.E. “Neto” Roser, director of U.S. Customs Operations for Roser & Cowen Logistical Customs Services Ltd. based in Brownsville, Texas.
   Romero founded AM-MEX in 1984 and the company now operates offices in San Diego, Otay Mesa and Calexico.
   Romero was general chairman for WESCCON in 2002 and 2003, is chairman for the Fresh Produce Committee, treasurer for the San Diego Customs Brokers Association, and regularly speaks at the Western Maquiladora Trade Association meetings.
   Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the 110-year old NCBFAA represents nearly 800 member companies including freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries, non-vessel-operating common carriers and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters.
