Coast Guard to assist with mariner documents in U.S. Virgin Islands

Coast Guard to assist with mariner documents in U.S. Virgin Islands    A U.S. Coast Guard representative will be in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands May 9-10 to assist with fingerprinting and application packages for merchant mariner's documents, licenses, and certificates of registry.
   Mariners that request fingerprinting services must provide a complete application and two forms of valid identification and at least one of them must have a photograph. Common types of identification are U.S. or U.S. Territory issued drivers license, passport or original birth certificate. Expired documents will not be accepted by the REC representative as a valid means of identification.
   A regional Exam Center representative will meet with mariners by appointment only, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., May 9-10. Mariners in need of fingerprinting and application assistance must contact the Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment, Saint Thomas, at (340) 776-3497 to schedule an appointment.
