Menlo Worldwide expands Amsterdam operations

Menlo Worldwide expands Amsterdam operations San Mateo, Calif.-based third-party logistics provider Menlo Worldwide has moved into its new European headquarters with the opening of a 6,500-square-meter multiclient center at the AMB Douglassingel Distribution Center near Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
   The new facility replaces the Con-way Inc. subsidiary’s previous 3,000-square-meter operation at Koolhovenlaan in the same area of Schiphol-Rijk.
   “As the center of an extensive network connecting the rest of Europe, Amsterdam is a crucial market for Menlo and our customers,” said Gert Askes, Menlo’s managing director of European operations. “The proximity of this new facility to the airport and customs is ideal and allows us very fast turnaround times. It is also a state-of-the-art building, perfectly suited to support the requirements of our high-tech clientele. This positions us for growth as the market continues to seek capacity and expanded services for logistics and distribution management throughout the pan-European market.”
   Menlo’s other principal logistics operating centers in Europe are in Eersel and Rotterdam, also in the Netherlands; Hahn, Germany; Budapest, Hungary; and three locations in the United Kingdom.
