Port of Tilbury gains new temperature-controlled facility

United Kingdom-based chilled food distribution solutions provider NFT opened the largest temperature-controlled quayside distribution hub in Europe at the Port of Tilbury.    NFT, a UK-based chilled food distribution solutions provider, opened its London Logistics Facility at the Port of Tilbury April 21, marking the largest temperature-controlled quayside distribution hub in Europe, the company said.
   The 25 million euro (U.S. $28.5 million) investment will generate more than 500 jobs, according to port owner and operator Forth Ports.
   Overall, the new 230,000-square-foot facility is equipped to handle in excess of 2.5 million cases per week.
   “The new NFT London facility is very impressive and the link it provides between the shipping companies and the food retailers is undoubtedly going to be of great value to the UK,” Lord Mayor of London Lord Mountevans said.
