New World Alliance fine tunes Pacific services for peak season

New World Alliance fine tunes Pacific services for peak season    New World Alliance carriers APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines have revised some of their joint transpacific services ahead of the peak season.
But contrary to last year, the New World Alliance will not operate an additional peak-season service calling Seattle as the only port of call in North America — a measure the alliance carriers took at the time to cope with the congestion of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
MOL said the New World Alliance's PS1 and PS3 services will continue to call at Seattle and Vancouver, in addition to Los Angeles or Oakland, while its PNW loop will feature direct calls at Tacoma, Seattle and Vancouver.
As previously announced, the carriers have changed the port rotation of the PSX (formerly PSV) service between Asia and California and made Oakland the first inbound U.S. port of call for this service. The first voyage of the revised PSX loop, which employs four 4,600-TEU MOL vessels, is scheduled to leave Hong Kong June 12. The PSX rotation will be Hong Kong, Chiwan, Yantian, Oakland, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Hong Kong. Previous eastbound calls at Kaohsiung will be stopped.
New World Alliance carriers said their joint PS2 transpacific service will pick up the Kaohsiung call. The service will call Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Kaohsiung and Los Angeles.
The rotation and deployment of alliance’s six other transpacific West Coast services (SAX, PS1, PS3, GCX, PSW and PNW) and of its two weekly Asia/U.S. East Coast all-water services (NYX and APX) will remain unchanged.
The New World Alliance will continue to operate 10 weekly services in the transpacific trade. In addition, Hyundai and MOL operate another Asia/U.S. West Coast transpacific service called PCX.
