Balzano recognized for leadership at port The New Jersey Alliance for Action Wednesday night awarded Joseph A. Balzano, South Jersey Port Corp.’s executive director and chief executive officer, the Walter Rand Award for his extraordinary service on behalf of the port industry in South Jersey.
   The alliance is a consortium of business, labor, government and academic leaders dedicated to creating jobs, improving the economy and protecting the environment.
   “For 56 years and counting Joe Balzano has been a proven leader and advocate for many of the same goals and objectives as the alliance. Joe’s passion and unparalleled dedication to realizing the potential of Southern New Jersey’s ports to generate meaningful jobs and economic impacts to the benefit of the entire Delaware Valley region is legendary,” the group noted in announcing the award.
