Priority buys Heathrow-based AWLI

   Expedited freight transport provider Priority Freight has expanded its operations with the purchase of London Heathrow Airport-based specialist air cargo forwarder AWLI Group.
   Priority’s acquisition of the Heathrow forwarding arm of AWLI Group is part of the company’s goal to become a lead provider of time-critical and expedited freight services from the region. The company completed the buy on Aug. 1, and over the next three months will transition over AWLI’s staff, operations, and customer service to the Priority Freight brand.
   “Having our own specialist expedited air freight division at Europe’s busiest airport in addition to various professional partners at our disposal, gives us an added degree of flexibility,” said Neal Williams, group managing director of Priority.
   Priority Freight said it will also use the acquisition to reach new customers requiring expedited freight services, such as those involved in automotive, aeronautical, marine supplies, energy, and pharmaceuticals. – Geoff Whiting
