Bayer Diagnostics picks Exel to manage U.K. air freight

    Bayer Diagnostics, part of the Bayer AG group, has contracted with U.K.-based Exel, a provider of logistics services, to manage the air freight movement of Bayer products from the United States to the United Kingdom.
   Exel will also deliver warehousing and other services for customers of Bayer Diagnostics in Europe.
   Exel will establish six U.S. vendor hubs in Tampa, Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore., to handle shipments of materials from 80 suppliers to Bayer’s U.K. manufacturing operations, via Heathrow airport.
   Exel will work from an existing multi-user health care facility in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, providing storage, inventory management, and order fulfillment services for Bayer products en route to hospitals, laboratories and clinics across northern Europe.
