Hamburg Sud to switch South Florida call

Hamburg Sud to switch South Florida call    German ocean carrier Hamburg Sud will next month complete the consolidation of all its South Florida activities when its weekly U.S./East Coast South America East Coast Americas (ABUS) service starts calling at Port Everglades instead of Miami.
   The vessel “Cap San Augustin” will make the first call at Port Everglades on ABUS April 17. Florida International Terminal (FIT) will provide Hamburg Sud’s terminal and stevedoring services. The last call of the ABUS service at Miami will be made by the “Cap San Antonio” April 3.
   Following the port switch, Hamburg Sud will operate three weekly calls at Port Everglades: the U.S./Venezuela (VENEZ) service, the U.S./West Coast South America (AGAS) service and the ABUS.
   The ABUS service uses six 3,740-TEU ships and will have a revised port rotation of: New York, Philadelphia, Norfolk, Charleston, Jacksonville, Port Everglades, Puerto Cabello, Suape, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Itaqui, Suape, Pecem, and back to New York.
   Evergreen and Hamburg Sud’s subsidiary Alianca both take space on the service.
