ICAO, IATA combine on dangerous goods information    The International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Air Transport Association said Wednesday they have joined together to create two Web-based information tools to better communicate regulations on the carriage of dangerous goods on passenger and cargo aircraft.
   'For years, both organizations have made available to the global aviation community printed versions of the regulatory material adopted and regularly amended by ICAO,' the organizations said. 'The new venture will make the information more easily accessible through the Internet, more user-friendly and ultimately more effective.'
   One of the tools, DGOnline, is aimed at airlines and will be available at the end of 2009. It will display, from any station computer or mobile device with Internet access, the latest information from leading dangerous goods regulatory and industry publications, including national and operator variations and updates, in multiple languages. It will also feature a range of practical applications to facilitate compliance with regulations.
   The other tool, iShip, is targeted at the shipping community and will be available in the first half of 2010. It integrates dangerous goods shipping tools and provides full and easy access to IATA’s Dangerous Goods Regulations content.
