Port of Catoosa cargo volumes steady in July

During the first six months of the year, the Oklahoma multi-modal port handled over 2.3 million tons of cargo.    The Tulsa Port of Catoosa multi-modal shipping complex handled 180,442 tons of waterborne cargo in July, virtually unchanged from the 180,150 tons that moved through the port in July 2016, according to recent data from the port.
   During the first half of calendar year 2017, the Oklahoma port handled over 2.3 million tons of cargo.
   The Tulsa Port of Catoosa, which is managed and operated by the City of Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority, is located at the head of navigation for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in Northeast Oklahoma. It’s one of America’s most inland river-ports, as well one of the largest, handling millions of tons of bulk freight by barge each year.
   Among the bulk freight industries utilizing the port are consumer goods manufacturers, fertilizer distributors, industrial gas suppliers and wheat growers.
   The port is currently in the middle of a Low Water Wharf Rehabilitation Project, which aims to replace more than 14,000 square feet of new concrete pavement on the wharf area.
