DGX expands in Guam

DGX expands in Guam    Freight forwarder Dependable Global Express will expand its Guam facility to meet the U.S. military's growing logistics service demands on the island.
   When completed, DGX’s terminal will be 65 percent or 10,000 square feet larger in warehouse, office and trucking space. The multimillion-dollar expansion program will allow the freight forwarder to provide customers with a greater range of services for their ocean and air shipments.
   Ventures West of Honolulu will oversee expansion of the DGX facility, with the work being done by the Isagani B. Baluyut Construction Co. based in Agana, Guam.
   'The Pentagon’s decision to transfer 8,000 Marines and their dependents from Okinawa to Guam was the catalyst in our decision to enlarge our facility,” said Paje Butler, DGX’s Guam general manager.
   “This substantial move by Marine Corps personnel will require massive logistics support,' Butler added. 'With our expansion program geared to meet the growing needs of the military here on Guam, DGX intends to play an important role in this effort.'
   Butler also noted that civilian companies on the island will be 'revving up their operations to participate in this increased economic activity. They will require dependable delivery of goods to sustain their growth.'
   DGX said an important aspect in its expansion program is its growing trucking operation to better serve businesses and consumers throughout the island. DGX’s six truck bays are being doubled to 12 to take on new business with local trucking.
