Cass adds analysis to reports    Cass Information Systems, a freight audit and payment provider and publisher of statistical freight data, has expanded the format of its 20-year-old Freight Index report to include commentary from an independent business analyst and authority on supply chain dynamics.
   Rosalyn Wilson, a logistics industry expert, will analyze monthly North American freight data and provide the commentary. She is the author of the Annual State of Logistics Report, an analysis of the supply chain industry published by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. The report was initially created in 1988 by the late Robert V. Delaney, a former Cass executive.

   'The data from Cass’ client base covers a wide range of industries and shipper/carrier sizes allowing it to closely mirror the overall domestic freight industry. This index is unmatched in tracking industry trends as they are unfolding and serves as an excellent barometer of the economy,” Wilson said in a statement.

   Published monthly, the Cass Freight Index consists of two index values — the number of shipments and dollars spent on shipments (cost of freight). The data is based on transactions processed by Cass on behalf of its extensive shipper client base. The index uses January 1990 as its base month.
