Dominican Agriculture Minister Salvador Jim'nez was heading up a delegation that met with Haitian President Ren' Pr'val to discuss the ban.
Haiti implemented a ban on Dominican poultry shipments Jan. 7 in response to the discovery of a strain of bird flu in the Dominican Republic. According to a report in Dominican Today, the Dominican Republic's Export and Investment Center said Dominican shippers have lost more than $1.5 million since the ban was imposed.
Dominican poultry producers have called for a blockade of all cross-border trade to Haiti as soon as Friday if restrictions are not lifted.
