ModusLink moves Netherlands facility

   ModusLink is moving to a 15,200-square-meter distribution center in Venray, the Netherlands, that will employ between 350 and 500 people to replace its current location in Apeldoorn.
   The new facility will be up and running by July.
   Company officials were weighing different options for Europe, including opening a facility in the Czech Republic or Germany. In the end, the Netherlands offered what the company needed as a centrally located European logistics hub.
   “Our clients have enjoyed many benefits over the last 25 years from our location in Apeldoorn,” ModusLink’s Scott Crawley said in a statement. “Today, we are managing numerous supply chain programs for global consumer electronics companies whose growth necessitates a facility that is better designed in terms of warehouse space and layout and with access to more transportation options.”
   The Holland International Distribution Council (NDL/HIDC) advised the company on the new location.
   “It is important that large companies such as Moduslink remain in the Netherlands,” the organization’s Dirk ‘t Hooft said in a statement. “The strength of the Netherlands lies in the attractive combination of the main location factors for logistics, infrastructure, knowledge, labor and favorable tax regulations.” – Jon Ross
