Haven adds airfreight to online marketplace

The tech startup’s freight procurement marketplace previously only included capacity from ocean carriers, but the company has successfully pilot tested air cargo procurement as well.    The online freight rate marketplace Haven has expanded to include air cargo capacity from 10 of the top 10 global providers of airfreight across 3,500 airports.
   “Small and midsize shippers often find it difficult to book air freight, particularly in periods of peak demand,” the company said in a statement Tuesday. “Capacity providers typically give preference to larger shippers because the overhead of managing customer accounts makes it difficult for them to serve lower volume clientele.”
   Haven’s Platform is designed to benefit both sides of the market by providing shippers with low volumes or less desirable cargo access to top-tier providers while reducing the overhead required for a capacity provider to serve a customer.
   “Air cargo is a critical part of logistics for many of our customers, particularly during peak season,” said Matthew Tillman, Haven chief executive officer. “By working with Haven, pilot program customers successfully shipped thousands of kilos in product around the world. Today’s release marks the next phase of Haven’s commitment to provide shippers with a truly end-to-end freight procurement platform.”
   Haven previously provided shippers with a marketplace to shop ocean freight rates and capacity from 30 of the top global shipping lines.
