CBP’s Hinojosa wins WCO election for important directorate

The veteran Customs official will be responsible for helping countries with trade compliance and facilitation.    The World Customs Organization during its annual meeting in Brussels last week elected U.S. Customs official Ana Hinojosa as director of its Compliance and Facilitation Directorate.
   Hinojosa currently serves as deputy assistant commissioner for international affairs at Customs and Border Protection, which mounted a vigorous campaign to get her elected.
   In her new role, Hinojosa will supervise compliance and trade facilitation programs aimed at helping customs administrations improve supply chain security, data harmonization, coordinated border management and enforcement.
   She will assume the post on Jan. 1, according to CBP.
