U.S, China work to expand bilateral air service U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters is expected to travel to China this spring to discuss further opening the U.S.-China aviation agreement to commercial flights, the department said Thursday.
   The news came in announcement about the formal permission for United Airlines to operate a daily non-stop flight between Washington Dulles International Airport and Beijing.
   The DOT and Chinese officials recently held talks aimed at increasing flight frequencies for passenger and cargo service. Under the July 2004 aviation agreement, 195 new weekly flights are being phased in during a six-year period.
   'It is clear that the market could support much more service, so we are redoubling our efforts to liberalize our aviation agreement with China,' Peters said.
