Vancouver Port Authority to continue with truck-licensing program    The Vancouver Port Authority said today that its existing container truck-licensing program will remain in place until further notice, while it awaits the joint federal and provincial 'Task Force' report, which is under review.
   The Canadian government established the three-man task force to recommend a long-term industrial relations strategy in the aftermath of this summer’s truckers strike at the port of Vancouver.
   “While the task force has been asked to make recommendations about the licensing system, any changes will take time to implement. In the meantime, the VPA will continue to administer and enforce the existing system,” the authority said.
   Under the terms of the current truck-licensing program, all companies or trucks wishing to access the port are required to be signatories to the memorandum of agreement between the Trucking Companies and Vancouver Container Truckers’ Association.
