AirBridge Cargo joins TAPA

AirBridge Cargo joins TAPA Scheduled cargo airline AirBridge Cargo (ABC), part of Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group, has joined the Transported Asset Protection Association and subscribed to all of its recommended security procedures.
   Started in the United States in 1997, TAPA has been active in Europe since May 1999 and now includes most big-name technology shippers such as Nokia, Motorola, Dell, Sony and Samsung. The most widely known of TAPA’s risk management tools is Freight Security Requirements (FSR), a qualitative standard of best practices that enables different levels of classification according to threat levels.
   “In cooperation with TAPA we intend to develop new procedures to keep ABC in the forefront of safety and security for high-tech and vulnerable shipments,” said Stan Wraight, AirBridge’s president and chief executive officer.
   The airline added that it would insist that all of its suppliers, such as trucking companies, handling companies and airport authorities, also apply TAPA rules and standards to secure its business.
