Eimskip alters Blue Line loop

The Icelandic shipping company said its Blue Line service will drop a call at Hamburg in favor of a call at Bremerhaven, which offers excellent connections via Bremerhaven to Asia, Africa, South America and North America.    The Icelandic shipping company Eimskip will begin calling Bremerhaven in place of Hamburg on its intra-Europe Blue Line service.
The service’s last call at the Port of Hamburg is planned with the Godafoss on Nov. 29, Eimskip said. The service will begin calling the EUROGATE Container Terminal Bremerhaven Dec. 6.
Ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting illustrates the Blue Line currently deploys two vessels with an average capacity of 1,457 TEUs. The loop currently calls Reykjavik and Reydarfjordur in Iceland; Thorshavn, Faroe Islands; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Hamburg, Germany; Aarhus, Denmark; Thorshavn; and Reykjavik and Grundartangi in Iceland.
The terminal that Eimskip has been using at the Port of Hamburg will be closed due to structural changes, but Eimskip’s main office in Germany will remain in Hamburg.
Eimskip said the EUROGATE terminal it will be using at the Port of Bremerhaven is modern, and the port offers excellent connections via Bremerhaven to Asia, Africa, South America and North America. In addition, the port features a warehouse for chilled and cold cargo directly at the container terminal, further improving services for the fish industry, Eimskip said.
