Norfolk company starts all-water LCL service from Hong Kong CV International Inc., a Norfolk, Va.-based logistics and transportation company, said Wednesday it has launched a weekly less-than-containerload service from Hong Kong to the Port of Virginia.
   CV International started the service in cooperation with its Hong Kong-based partner, Orient Star Group, and will be the first direct, all-water service of its kind into Norfolk, the company said.
   The goal of the service was to provide mid-Atlantic importers a more reliable alternative to the congestion in other major East and West coasts ports, the company added.
   'We started the service on a bi-weekly basis to serve a handful of customers,' Mike Coleman, president of CV International, said in a statement. 'Since then, the service has grown into a weekly service with a broad range of support from co-loaders and importers. Importers in our region had a need for a reliable and cost-effective LCL service from China.'
