Census teams prepare to meet with AES filers The U.S. Census Bureau's Foreign Trade Division will dispatch teams of staff to compliant Automated Export System filers early in 2007 to learn about their best practices.
   The teams, comprising two to three Census staff, will also answer any AES questions that the filers may have. The meetings will be scheduled and last for two to three hours, said Jerry Greenwell, trade ombudsman for Census, at the Regulations and Procedures Technical Advisory Committee (RPTAC) meeting on Tuesday.
   'These will be informal meetings to gather information from you and exchange information with you,' Greenwell said.
   Wendy Peebles, recently appointed chief of the AES Branch at Census, will lead the effort.
   Once the visits to the compliant AES filers are finished, Census will then start scheduling meetings with filers experiencing problems. Census officials say most errors involve late filings and wrong export classification numbers. The agency will work closely with non-compliant AES filers to correct the problems.
