Thamesport breaks October rail record

Thamesport breaks October rail record Thamesport (London) Ltd.’s rail terminal handled 6,007 TEUs in October, a record amount for the month. The previous best record of 5,411 TEUs was set in October 1999.
   The latest figure represents a rail modal share for the United Kingdom port of 23.6 percent. Thamesport operates four rail services daily, which serve Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds/Coatbridge, Doncaster and Birch Coppice.
   “These record-breaking volumes are excellent news. They have come at a time when Thamesport is experiencing constantly increasing volumes of trade, and is welcoming new and returning services,” said Chris Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Ports (UK) Ltd., which owns Thamesport.
