Damco sets up shop in Myanmar

   Damco, the third-party logistics arm of A.P. Moller-Maersk, has been granted a license to operate in Myanmar and has started setting up an office in the region.
   The company has already started a freight station operation in Yangon and is managing shipments for global accounts.
   Damco is also working toward a plan of investment in the country.
   “We have an immediate implementation plan as well as a long term one to set up logistics capability and infrastructure in Myanmar,” the company’s Kiattichai Pitpreecha said in a statement. “This will allow our customers to open up their supply chains and sourcing operations in the country, whilst ensuring the highest standards are met in terms of meeting the principles of the UN Global Compact.” – Jon Ross
