Hactl has fine first quarter

   Hong Kong Terminals International, the handler for the busiest air cargo airport in the world, registered “satisfactory” results in the first quarter with a total of 643,912 tons.
   Most of the tonnage for the period occurred in January and March.
   “February has always been a traditional slower month due to the extended Chinese New Year holiday. After adjusting for the seasonal factor, the overall first-quarter figures were satisfactory. Looking into the second quarter, we expect that it will be at best flat compared to 2012 as slow economic recovery persists,” Mark Whitehead, Hactl’s chief executive, said in a statement.
   For the quarter, Hactl registered 318,004 tons of export and 153,976 import tons. Transshipment activity finished at 171,932 tons. March stood as the busiest month, by far, across the board. – Jon Ross
