Wan Biao, chief executive officer for Huawei Devices, said the application will address growing demand for mobile access to enterprise resource planning (ERP), in addition to customer relationship, supply chain, and inventory and warehousing management tools.
According to Shirley Yu-Tsui, general manager of IBM Global Business Services in China, the service with Huawei will first focus on the Chinese market.
The companies said the first industries to benefit from the offering will be consumer goods companies for inventory optimization and store management; the energy sector with asset management tools and equipment testing and access options; and retailers who will get tools on market information, customer management, and inventory management.
The companies are preparing a pilot program where Huawei provides the devices and mobile management platform, while IBM offers consulting to support the enterprise foundations for systems like ERP. Smartphones and tablets will be tested in the coming months, the companies said.
