EVERGREEN CONFIRMS SERVICE CHANGES

EVERGREEN CONFIRMS SERVICE CHANGES    Evergreen Line confirmed that it has modified its transpacific HTW service as part of a reshuffle of its Pacific and Asia/Europe schedule.
   The HTW service is now operating with six smaller and slower 3,428-TEU vessels, in place of five larger 5,364-TEU ships.
   A spokesman for the company said that U.S. West Coast calls at Oakland, Calif., have been replaced by calls at Portland, Ore. The Tacoma call now comes before Vancouver, the new last port out.
   The port alterations are a direct consequence of the earlier withdrawal of Evergreen's KJW transpacific service, following the start of its all-water Asia-U.S. East Coast AUE service, the spokesman said. Without switching the HTW to Portland there would have been two weekly sailings from Oakland and none from Portland.
   The former 5,364-TEU ships on the HTW link are being switched to the Asia/Europe services of Evergreen and Lloyd Triestino.
