NYK shifts container headquarters to Singapore

NYK shifts container headquarters to Singapore    NYK Line has moved its containership division headquarters from Tokyo to Singapore, according to a report in Containerisation International.
   The Japanese line told the U.K.-based news outlet that it already had a significant presence in Singapore, where its intra-Asia subsidiary TSK Lines was already based. An NYK executive said the move, made June 1, would impact neither day-to-day operations, nor service quality.
   The report said the rest of NYK’s divisions would remain headquartered in Tokyo, while the company’s container operation would be centralized in three global locations — Singapore, London and New Jersey.
   NYK did not immediately respond to requests from American Shipper for confirmation of the report.
